Key Facts

What This Means for Your Business:

Cheaper Electricity
from day 1

Start reducing your electricity costs from the moment the system is switched on, without needing to purchase the solar system.

Contract Term:
10-25 years

Secure an agreed electricity tariff over a 10–25 year term, helping you plan energy costs with greater confidence through predictable pricing and a clear cost structure.

Performance Responsibility

The funder owns the system and takes responsibility for its performance, with monitoring, maintenance and warranties included.

Is a Solar right for you?

Solar through a PPA can be a simple way to reduce energy costs, improve your building’s sustainability credentials and take greater control of your future energy spend, without the need for upfront capital investment.

What is a Solar PPA?

A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) allows a solar system to be installed on your building at no upfront cost.

Instead of buying the system, you purchase the electricity it generates at a lower starting tariff than grid power, with an agreed annual escalator (typically 3% per annum).

  • A PPA can provide an agreed electricity price over a long-term contract, helping businesses reduce exposure to fluctuations in wholesale electricity prices and plan their energy costs with greater confidence. The exact tariff and annual escalation are agreed as part of the individual PPA.

  • The solar system is funded by the PPA provider, meaning the building owner does not need to purchase the system or fund its installation upfront. Instead, you pay for the electricity the system generates under the agreed PPA tariff.

  • Generating renewable electricity on-site can help businesses reduce their reliance on higher-carbon grid electricity and support wider sustainability objectives. It can also contribute to ESG reporting and, depending on the building and its existing energy performance, may support improvements to its EPC position.

  • The PPA provider owns the solar asset and is responsible for its ongoing operation and maintenance throughout the agreement. This means the building owner can benefit from on-site solar without taking on the day-to-day responsibility for maintaining the system.
